Abstract

Every community mental health service, irrespective of model, should include access to specialist older persons' mental health clinicians able to fulfil this expectation and champion their needs. Where community MHTs manage adults of all ages, which is the case in many areas of Australia, older adults and their inherent disadvantage and specific needs must not be forgotten. Dear Sir, Thomson et al.[1] highlight that community mental health teams (MHTs) support individuals who are particularly vulnerable to impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, with an informative description of their public health response plan by community mental health services.
