Presents information on bias editorials in the presentation of news by several U.S. newspapers, as shown by their handling and reporting in headlines and text of news events. Description of controversial matters such as the Cruiser Bill controversy in Congress and tariff debates; Measurement of the discrepancy between objective facts and news facts; Analysis of 400 issues of seven Pittsburgh newspaper during the steel strike; Development of a project by Carola Woerishoffer Department at Bryn Mawr College to give reliable results from newspaper analysis; Comment that to advocate a policy editorially has been regarded as a proper function of the press; Information on public controversies on which indexes of bias are based.
