Aspects of System sizing for complete autonomy of islands grids, discussed by using the example of PV-integration into the Faroe Islands.

For the electricity supply of isolated communities, Islands or largescale national grids, there is an ongoing discussion on the best configuration of electricity supply systems assuring secure operation without the use of fossil sources. It is known that the relative efforts to approach the goal of a 100% renewable supply increase remarkably when coming close to it. Here, some aspects of this problem will be demonstrated by using the example of the electricity system of the Faroe Islands. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
