Abstract

The glass of lithium-sodium tetragermanate LiNaGe<subscript>4</subscript>O<subscript>9</subscript> was prepared by fast quenching the melt. The glass was devitrified on heating under the control of differential scanning calorimetry. It was shown that the glass crystallized through a single stage. Electrical properties were measured on heating in the interval including the characteristic temperatures of the glass devitrification. It was shown that electrical conductivity increased on approaching glass transition temperature T<subscript>g</subscript> from below and sharply dropped down after the glass crystallization. Charge transfer in LiNaGe<subscript>4</subscript>O<subscript>9</subscript> glass and polycrystal was attributed to Li ions motion. The data obtained can be used for the preparation of the nanometer sized LiNaGe<subscript>4</subscript>O<subscript>9</subscript> glass ceramics with increased ionic conductivity.
