Psychiatry in the Year 2500: Lessons Learned From History.

The article provides an outlook for the practice of psychiatry in 2500 based on the lessons learned from history. Topics discussed include the possibility that 26th-century psychiatry will consider the biopsychosocial approach in 2021 as simplistic in understanding, knowledge of scientists in 2500 about the impacts of genetic, epigenetic and physical and psychosocial environmental factors, and possible inclusion of cell-specific diagnoses and connectivity patterns in psychiatric diagnoses.
