- The chapters are grouped into four parts: Part I: Extreme Environments: Responses and Adaptation to Change (three chapters); Part II: Biodiversity, Bioenergetic Processes, and Biotic and Abiotic Interactions (three chapters); Part III: Life in Extreme Environments and the Responses to Change: The Example of Polar Environments (six chapters); and Part IV: Life and Habitability (two chapters).
