Presents an editorial on graduate medical education research in the 21st century. Comments on a report in this issue on residency burnout; Belief that the methodological weakness of the evidence leaves as many questions as answers; Increase in studies of graduate medical students over the years but need for much more; Questions on who will fund the needed research; Changes in medical education over the years; Recent rulings on work hours and the National Resident Matching Program; Commitment of this magazine to advancing the science of post-graduate medical training; Encouragement for students, residents and others to submit papers on the topic.
