Abstract

Martini's work represents an important contribution to the study of terrorism and extremism, and more broadly international security and international relations through critical approaches. Terrorism has become a normal feature of everyday life, not because many of us will ever go through such an experience but because of how this word has penetrated our everyday language and shapes our daily life experiences as citizens. Helped by a strong theoretical apparatus, Martini consistently develops throughout the book the construction of the global dispositif against terrorism and extremism, laying out the conditions that make it possible, the discursive tools that make it happen and the power relations that sustain it.
