Abstract

In this article, a percussive piezoelectric energy harvester (PPEH) is proposed for scavenging on wind galloping oscillation. Due to galloping effect of the square oscillator, the impact beams could transfer wind galloping oscillation to the piezoelectric beams percussively, and then convert the vibration energy into electricity. The vibration response and energy harvesting performance of the PPEH are experimentally investigated with variable parameters. And the results show that there is an optimal critical wind speed to maximize the output power of the PPEH. The electrical performance of the PPEH can be improved by adding tip mass and changing the percussive position. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
