Abstract

Reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) revealed hypoplasia of the epidermis with a clear border between the lesion and the adjacent normal skin, discoid large cells with hyper-refractile peripheral ring, and bright structures in the dermis (Fig. Immunohistochemically those cells are positive stained for S100, CD1a, and Langerin.3 Recent reports have evidenced that RCM is helpful in the diagnosis of XG,4,5 especially for patients unwilling to undergo a surgical biopsy. Dear Editor, Xanthogranuloma (XG) is a benign variant of non-Langerhans cell histiocytosis that most frequently occurs in juvenile patients.1 It typically presents as well-defined, yellow-red, dome-shaped papules or nodules, most frequently located on the head and trunk.
