Abstract: The article presents the discussion on introduction of a new Sterile Barrier System (SBS) constituting a significant change to the instrumentation circuit. Topics include decision having implications for the entire workflow patterns of the nursing personnel in the operating room (OR); and risk of perforation while using sheet packaging being reduced by fitting edge protection aids.
