Abstract

The book is able to transmit to the next generation of regional scientists how regional science came to the fore, how the Regional Science Association was established, how the very well-known ideas of today were given birth by the main thinkers and how they found acceptance at the time of their creation. The second part is dedicated to scholars whose studies prepared the ground for the creation of regional science, in particular Jules Dupuit, August Lösch, Philip Sargant Florence and Gunner Myrdal. As an example, the creation of regional science was established through a series of books written by Isard and colleagues, where still nowadays one can find the scientific basis of the new discipline for that time.
