Abstract

The article looks at the scrutiny of U.S. legislators into travel nursing agencies in 2022. The shortage in staff nurses at hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic is attributed to the decision of thousands of nurses to resign to work on temporary contracts as travel nurses. The implication of the high demand for travel nurses for hospital systems is explained. Among the ways to retain staff nurses suggested by groups are implementing minimum staffing ratios and enhancing safety measures.
