Abstract

Climate change and environmental degradation are an existential threat to Europe and the world. To overcome these challenges, the European Green Deal intents to transform the EU into a modern, resource-efficient and competitive economy. Today, we are facing two megatrends: Digitalization and Sustainability. During pandemic period of COVID-19, digitalization serves as an accelerator to overcome consequences of the crisis for all economic actors. The debates around the two concepts: digitalization and sustainability create new approaches that take into consideration both concepts from different angles. This paper is a review of a state-of-the art in the field of digitalization and sustainability with the purpose of establishing the main trends in terms of new concepts that include both of them, and trying to define the borders between the new concepts emerged.
