MEDSCOPE Special Issue: advancing the understanding of variability and predictability over the Mediterranean region at seasonal to decadal time scales.

Use cases for climate forecasts over the Mediterranean were demonstrated during MEDSCOPE, and skilful forecasts depend on the ability of dynamical, empirical and hybrid systems to represent climate drivers, climate variability patterns and teleconnections that are relevant at these time scales. The overarching goal of ERA4CS-MEDSCOPE project (www.medscope-project.eu) co-funded by JPI-Climate and the European Union Horizon 2020 program from 2017 to 2021 was to enhance the uptake of climate predictions at the seasonal-to-decadal timescale over the Mediterranean region.
