Abstract

The article presents the history of Cuttington University, which was established as a private school in Liberia in 1887. The school was named after Robert Fulton Cutting, who donated the money to buy the land where the college was constructed. The university is the oldest higher education institution in sub-Saharan Africa with six colleges as of 1980, including education, humanities, natural science, and social science.
