Abstract

From June 13th to 15th, 2022, the 13th International Fluid Technology Colloquium took place in Aachen. The event served as a platform for experts in hydraulic and pneumatic drive, control, and regulation technology to exchange ideas. Despite the COVID situation, 408 participants from 21 countries attended. The colloquium included 116 presentations, a trade exhibition, and covered topics such as tribology, electrification, digitalization, and sustainability. The focus was particularly on the connection between science and industry, as well as the topics of manufacturing and sustainability. Prof. Katharina Schmitz presented the potential of fluid technology in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in her lecture. She emphasized the importance of energy efficiency and the changing public opinion and attitudes among manufacturers. Students increasingly ask questions about the contribution of fluid technology to improving the world. The next IFK colloquium is planned for March 2024 in Dresden and will focus on the diversity in drive architectures and digitalization. A Best Paper Award was given for a research paper on calculating sealing friction in pneumatic components. [Extracted from the article]
