Abstract
- The article presents an essay which offers information on the identity of the woman who hosted a tea party attended by American lawyer and politician Abraham Lincoln in Kalamazoo, Michigan, in August 1856. According to the article, the woman, whom Lincoln referred to as the "wife of an M.C." in a letter addressed to Michigan Republican Party leader Zachariah Chandler, was most likely Eliza Taggart Walbridge, wife of Kalamazoo's congressman David S. Walbridge.
