Abstract

This article presents information on the role of community psychology in the community. According to researchers, community psychology bloomed into a separate and distinct area within psychology. Journals devoted to community psychological issues were founded, community psychology associations were formed, and books were written on the topic of community psychology. In the twenty-odd years that have passed since the beginnings of community psychology, much has been accomplished. Community psychology has staked out ground in a territory already populated by sociologists, social workers, urban anthropologists, politicians, economists, engineers, architects, public health workers, community psychiatrists, and various activists.
