Abstract

The article presents a method for assessing the saliency level of areas in a person's current life situation. The concept of saliency has a long history in psychology, and a variety of definitions of it have appeared over the years. In addition, it appears to be only one of a number of constructs that are now seen as similar abstract equivalents. Because high level abstractions such as motivation, purpose, saliency, etc., are difficult to research, investigators appear to be abandoning them in favor of more specific terminology.
