Abstract
- High-performance concrete is a very popular construction material used in recent years. The compressive strength and flexure strength of High-performance concrete (HPC) reinforced with basalt fiber (BF) were investigated. The influence of six different fraction of basalt fiber which includes (0%, 0.6%, 0.9%, 1.2%, 1.5%, and 1.8%) on the compressive strength and flexural strength were examined. The experiment used local materials commonly used in the local construction industry in Moscow. The performance of the basalt fiber under distribution compressive stress and flexural stress were presented. The experiment shows that the increase of basalt fiber fraction will highly decrease the workability of the concrete mix and slightly decrease the compressive strength. The compressive strength for the basalt fiber fractions tested at 28 days was 101.43 MPa, 94.03 MPa, 92.69 MPa, 102.51 MPa, 97.12 MPa, and 95.69 MPa, respectively. The flexure strength was enhanced significantly by adding basalt fiber to the concrete mix. Basalt fiber fraction increased the flexure tensile strength 8.5%, 23.4%, 33.5%, 27.9%, and 30.7% for HPC06, HPC09, HPC12, HPC15, and HPC18, respectively. Hence, BF can be used effectively to improve the flexure tensile strength. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
