Abstract

Amanita collariata and A. subparcivolvata, two new species of A. section Amanita from Central China, were proposed here based on both molecular and morphological evidences. Amanita collariata is characterized by its small basidiomata and broadly ellipsoid basidiospores (10–11.5 × 7–9 μm). Amanita subparcivolvata is characterized by its orange-red pileus covered with yellowish, conical volval remnants and broadly ellipsoid basidiospores (9–12 × 7–10 μm). Multi-locus (ITS, nrLSU, RPB2, TEF1-α, and TUB2) phylogenetic studies indicated that A. collariata is closely related to the clade comprising A. subglobosa, A. pantherina, A. pseudopantherina, A. griseopantherina, and A. albocreata, while A. subparcivolvata is sister to A. parcivolvata. These two new species are described, illustrated, and compared with closely related and morphologically similar species. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
