In seven patients, stents were removed and replaced by new ones due to the following complications: stent occlusion ( I n i = 4), stent collapse ( I n i = 2), and stent migration ( I n i = 1). [5] This study demonstrates that despite the development of stent-related complications in a proportion of patients, stent insertion is useful and does not increase mortality in a long-term follow-up. The decreased lung function at 2.5 years of posttransplantation is apparently due to the occurrence of most of the stenosis events during this period (the mean durations were 286.7 ± 411.1 days for the first stent insertion and 772.2 ± 611.9 days for the second stent).
