Abstract
- The article discusses the reemergence of queer nightlife in West Berlin, Germany in the critical years between the end of the Nazi regime in 1945 and the beginning of the gay and lesbian movements in the 1970s. It mentions how queer theories of space can contribute to understanding queer life in postwar Germany, which was characterized by a tension between renewed exuberance surveillance, between Überschwang and Überwachung. It also mentions queer individuals managed to resist repression.
