Abstract
- A backlight module is a key component of a liquid crystal display(LCD). The thickness of the backlight module affects the thickness of the display. In this paper, a design method based on the segment‐weighted is proposed for the miniLED backlight, which could reduce the thickness of the backlight module while ensuring uniformity of luminance. A surface microstructure is designed by discretizing the extended light source into a point source and designing the corresponding point microstructure using the point source based design method and the segment‐weighted method. The simulation results show that the brightness uniformity is 70%. To further improve the brightness uniformity, a diffusion film is added with the optical distance(OD) of 0.8mm, and the brightness uniformity is improved to 88%. The optical film designed in this paper can effectively improve the brightness uniformity and realize the ultra‐thin performance of the backlight. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
