Abstract

India sees itself as the natural leader of the Buddhist world - not only are the key milestones in Buddhism's emergence associated with India, but also it was from India that Buddhism spread to other parts of the world. In 2006, for instance, China helped restore the Xuanzang Memorial Hall in Nalanda and India simultaneously built an Indian-style Buddhist temple in the White Horse Temple complex in Luoyang in China. It is in this context that India and China's support to Vajrayana Buddhist events must be seen. [Extracted from the article]
