Complete Lateral Positioning Enabled Feeding in a Patient with Aspiration Pneumonia.

The complete lateral position can be used to widen the lateral pharynx in a direction that facilitates swallowing and reduces the risk of aspiration, even if the patient is unable to eat in the sitting position. Here, we report a case of aspiration pneumonia in a patient who was unable to eat in the sitting position after swallowing endoscopy, but was able to eat in the complete lateral position.
