Abstract

The article "Modeling an Epidemic" presents a mathematical model to analyze the dynamics of an epidemic and how it is affected by quarantines and individual behavior. Different epidemiological models are discussed, including the basic SIR model that considers susceptible, infected, and recovered individuals as interacting population groups. The effect of different measures on the spread of the epidemic, such as lockdowns and public perception of risk, is analyzed. A mathematical model is also presented to study the impact of vaccination on the epidemic, showing that an effective vaccine can decrease the number of infected individuals. It is concluded that a good vaccination rate and responsible behavior from the population are key to controlling an epidemic. [Extracted from the article]
