Abstract

The compositional pattern of I M. cochinchinensis i was similar to that of I M. obovatifolia i [[10]] and I M. philippinensis i [[12]] owing to high contents of monoterpene and sesquiterpene hydrocarbons. The chemical constituents of essential oils from I Machilus i species of Vietnamese origin such as I M. velutina i [[3]], I M. grandifolia i [[4]], I M. balansae i [[4]], and I M. japonica i [[5]] have been reported. Monoterpene hydrocarbons were the main compounds in I M. velutina i [[3]] and I M. japonica i [[5]], whereas sesquiterpene hydrocarbons were found in I M. grandifolia i [[4]]. I M. zuihoensis i [[7]], I M. pseudolongifolia i [[8]], I M. mushaensis i [[9]], I M. obovatifolia i [[10]], and I M. kusanoi i [[11]] also showed moderate action toward the organisms mentioned.
