Abstract

Studies on thiosemicarbazones are of important class of ligands which possesses various optical, antibacterial, antifungal, anticancer activities, etc. Incorporation of these bioactive ligands into the active metals, resulting in the synthesis of new bioactive compounds. With this information in mind, we herein prepared the new phenyl end substituted thiosemicarbazone ligand in ethanol solvent by adding ethoxy salicylaldehyde solution into phenyl thiosemicarbazone solution. The ruthenium(II) complexes was prepared with the newly synthesized ligand. The new ligand along with the ruthenium complexes were characterized and the resulting investigation reveals the octahedral geometry of the complexes. These hetero atom containing complexes may act as bioactive compound to inhibit the activity of bacteria and viruses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
