Abstract
- The symposium's call for papers described an energy landscape that points to a new energy economics defined by the governance challenges posed by disruptive technologies in a climate of heightened environmental and health concerns. Beppler et al. ([1]) use consumer electricity bills from a large market in the Eastern U.S. and find that consumers who adopt solar increase their electricity consumption by 16% relative to their baseline and non-adopters. The recent return to the energy price levels of the mid 2000s has accentuated the governance challenges posed by energy-related goals, including the drive for an energy system with fewer emissions and local impacts.
