Abstract

A biography of novelist Percival Everett is presented. Everett was born in Augusta, Georgia on December 22, 1956 and was raised in Columbia, South Carolina. He worked as a jazz musician, as a hand on a sheep ranch, and as a high school teacher for brief periods. He was named a distinguished professor of English in March 2007 at the University of Southern California in 1998. His works include "Suder," "Walk Me to the Distance," and "The One That Got Away."
