Abstract

A biography of novelist Gloria Naylor is presented. Naylor was born in New York City on January 25, 1950 and died in Christiansted, U.S. Virgin Islands on September 28, 2016. She read widely in the 19th century British novelists but later came across the book that influenced her most, "The Bluest Eye" by African American novelist Tony Morrison. Her works include "The Women of Brewster Place: A Novel in Seven Stories," "Linden Hills," and "Mama Day."
