A biography of novelist Mary Johnston is presented. Johnston was born on November 21, 1870 in Buchanan, Virginia to Major John W. Johnston and Elizabeth Alexander and died on March 9, 1936 in Warm Springs, Virginia. She lived at home until she was 19 and became an avid reader, particularly of history. Her achievements are mentioned. Her works include "To Have and to Hold," "Audrey," and "Sir Mortimer."
