Abstract

A biography of novelist and memoirist Madeleine L'Engle is presented. L'Engle was born on November 29, 1918 in New York City to journalist and playwright John Wadsworth Camp and pianist Madeleine Camp and died on September 6, 2007 in Litchfield, Connecticut. She became known as one of the most popular children's authors in 20th century America. Her works include "Camilla Dickinson," "A Live Coal in the Sea," and "Meet the Austins."
