Abstract

A biography of novelist and journalist Margaret Mitchell is presented. Mitchell was born on November 8, 1900 in Atlanta, Georgia to Maybelle (Stephens) and Eugene Muse Mitchell and died on August 16, 1949 also in Atlanta. She completed her elementary education in the Atlantic public school system, then attended Washington Seminary in Atlanta. She started a career in journalism in 1922 on the "Atlanta Journal" as Peggy Mitchell. Her works include "Gone with the Wind" and "Lost Laysen."
