Abstract

A biography of novelist Mildred D. Taylor is presented. Taylor was born on September 13, 1943 to parents who did not want to raise their children under racism. She has distinguished herself to thousands of readers, young and old, through her unique depiction of the African American experience. She settled in Los Angeles, California where she began to pursue the art of writing seriously. Her works include "Song of the Trees," "Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry," and "Let the Circle Be Unbroken."
