Abstract

A biography of poet and novelist Elinor Wylie is presented. Wylie was born on September 7, 1885 in Somerville, New Jersey and died on December 6, 1928 in New York City. She emerged as one of the new traditionalists of American literature in the 1920s. She wrote four books of poems and four novels in a span of eight years in which her tragic vision of life is portrayed in fantasy and satire. Her works include "The Venetian Glass Nephew," "The Orphan Angel," and "Mr. Hodge & Mr. Hazard.
