Abstract

Hydropower is the oldest renewable energy resource in our planet. Innovations were done in this resource of energy generation and modern shape has given to it. Water availability certainly affects the generation. This work is based on the forecasting of water availability to a power plant in the down hills. Snowline measurement or snow availability in altitude is the primary parameter of forecasting. The SENTINEL satellite time series data has been utilised and it is then compared with the UJVNL power generation data on random dates of corresponding years. In the results, proportional variation of snowline with power generation is certainly reliable and this is an easy way of forecasting. Standard deviation of images has been calculated among images. The variations are clearly discussed and seen in the histograms of the images. The power generation variation is changed according to the snowline change. Higher generation is all dependent on the snow fall in the top Himalaya. Water availability in rivers is fluctuated with the snowfall and it affects power generation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
