Abstract

The Cl<superscript>−</superscript> diadduct [nBu<subscript>4</subscript>N]<subscript>2</subscript>[A·2Cl] of the mixed cyclohexatetrelane (SiCl<subscript>2</subscript>)<subscript>5</subscript>(GeMe<subscript>2</subscript>), A, is accessible from Me<subscript>2</subscript>GeCl<subscript>2</subscript>, 6 eq. Si<subscript>2</subscript>Cl<subscript>6</subscript>, and 2 eq. [nBu<subscript>4</subscript>N]Cl in one step (96%). Free, tenfold functionalized A can be released from the primary product by decomplexation with AlCl<subscript>3</subscript> (78%). Insight into the assembly mechanism of [nBu<subscript>4</subscript>N]<subscript>2</subscript>[A·2Cl] and the reactivity of A is provided. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
