Abstract

Advances in sensor technology have made the bridge security supervising system automated in real-time. Many long-span bridges in Korea and Japan have implemented this system of real-time security surveillance. In this, a new concept is implemented in the bridge security supervising system. TCP/IP wireless network is tested for a short distance (among bridge sensors) and CDMA is tested for long-distance (between bridge and management center) data communication. (3) A dynamic database which stores bridge condition data; (4) a cloud-based system that monitors and evaluates transmitted information from the control systems. This system consists of: (1) Bridge environmental control system installed; (2) Bridges management system connecting cloud-based communication systems as well as cloud-based servers. This technology monitors as well as monitors in real time the circumstances of a bridge as well as its environment, including local water flows, pipelines, air conditioning, as well as other safety conditions. For the real-time supervision of the bridge situations the data and images observed are transmitted to the server via cellular telecommunication systems as well as the database.
