Abstract

The article discusses the issue of children in out-of-home care who are granted bail but imprisoned due to a lack of suitable accommodation in New South Wales . Topics include children in the protection system are at particular risk and are more likely to experience homelessness; the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is responsible for securing suitable shelter for these children; and it take a long time to find accommodation leading to children being unnecessarily imprisoned.
