Abstract
- The article cites a study on the distribution of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) in Gomti river system in India. This study was undertaken with a view to generate data on distribution of PAHs in river system in India and presents preliminary information on the concentration and distribution of different PAHs in the water and bed sediments of the Gomti river, Uttar Pradesh, India. The study shown that the Gomti river is highly contaminated with PAHs and poses high risk to the aquatic life. The findings support that the PAHs present in the river system at most of the locations have their origin from combustion processes in the catchments.
