Optimization of Vendor Rate Analysis Report by Visual Basic for Applications (VBA): A Case Study of Footwear Industry.

The objective of this research was to optimize vendor analysis report by automation to minimize reporting time and mistakes. The manual steps were translated by visual basic for applications (VBA) in excel. The code was compiled and executed in the form of macros and attached on userform. Time study before and after automation report was conducted to reveal the effectiveness of the suggested method. The suggested automated method took 88.56% less time in the comparison of old (manual) method of making vendor rate analysis report. The mechanism of automated report formation can be incorporated in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 which is already implemented there; thus authors of this paper suggest that it should be implemented in AX ERP because excel automation is not the permanent solution. Earlier work has been done on the use of VBA and many researchers have used this for number of problems in excel, word, MS project and Auto-CAD but it was never been used for report automation in MS excel. In the present research, it was used for the automation in such a way that user needs to do nothing but few clicks to complete the report in few seconds. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
