Abstract

The article presents a retrospective case study of a 70-year-old man with a single-chamber implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) that is nearing its end. Topics discussed include the risks of appropriate ICD therapies, and the higher risks in patients with ejection fraction (EF) that remained 35% less than those with EF improvement to more or equal to 35%. Also noted is the need of patients due for ICD generator replacement to be re-evaluated if continued ICD therapy is appropriate.
