Abstract
- Phil Jaggar - known in northern Nigeria as I Malam Bala i - was a leading Hausaist of his generation. In addition to his major focus on Hausa, Jaggar also conducted research on Guruntum, a small West Chadic language that was the mother tongue of Andrew Haruna, his PhD student at the time. Jaggar was not only interested in the Hausa language, he also had a serious interest in the history of Hausa studies. [Extracted from the article]
