Abstract

In an attempt to compare certain tests which have been employed at one time or another to measure emotional maturity in adults, the Willoughby E M Scale, the McNemar-Landis modification of this test, the Pressey Interest-Attitude Test and the Landis questionary were given to from 79 to 110 college sophomores. The Landis questionary was found to possess a split-half reliability of approximately .85 (stepped up to .92). The intercorrelations were all insignificant with the exception of that between the original and the modified Willoughby (found to be .46). The only conclusion that seemingly can be drawn from these data is that the tests are not measuring one common variable. A discussion of just what they are measuring is not within the scope of this paper. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
