Abstract
- This article presents information on the article "Research in Library Science," published in the October 1954 issue of the periodical "South African Libraries." The article discusses the lack of and the need for research in library science in South Africa. It also describes the application of several research methods to subjects in the field of library science. A research project should consist of the following steps: recognition and definition of the problem; survey of pertinent related data; formulation and development of the hypothesis; the collecting of data; analysis and summarizing of data; and the formulation of conclusions and generalizations.
