Diabetologia 1998–2003: Changing of the Guard.

The article presents information related to the journal "Diabetologia." Throughout the years Diabetologia has gone through a remarkable development. Starting with only 247 printed pages in 1965, the Journal today publishes more than 200 articles a year filling some 1700 pages. In parallel, the number of manuscripts submitted for publication rose from 100 in 1965 to more than 1000 in 2003. To attract even more high quality scientific reports Diabetologia has recently established two Annual Best Paper Awards of euro 4000 each for excellence in diabetes research in either basic or clinical science.
