The Magnificent Frigate Bird.

The author of this article shares her family life. Her friend was a birder, dyed in the wool, they have lists from his fourth grade sightings in Central Park. There is also a little box of grain he saved from a cross-country trip he took when he was seventeen; he and a friend worked on farms along the way. She goes up to see her husband every Wednesday. Her friend picks her up at eight, so she gets up at six in order to have the dogs walked and the paper read, the coffee drunk. Sometimes when she arrives her friend is still asleep, his face relaxed, looking so like himself that she can not believe he will not wake up and be all better.
